The highway will be open to all traffic as of noon on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026. Vehicles are not allowed to stop at any time. Exits and side roads from the highway are not open to vehicle traffic. Speed reductions and minor traffic interruptions can be expected as utility and other recovery efforts continue. This is an active wildfire area and conditions are subject to change with little to no warning. Drivers are reminded to respect all traffic control instructions and avoid arriving ahead of opening time to allow for crews to better manage highway traffic. Highway 24 and Highway 5 north remain as an alternative options for travellers. Travellers are advised to: Plan ahead, drive safely and help to keep traffic moving Expect additional congestion and delays Allow for extra travel time Ensure the vehicle has a full tank of fuel before leaving Carry plenty of drinking water, snacks and food For up-to-date information about road conditions, visit: www.DriveBC.ca Media Contacts Ministry of Transportation and Transit Media Relations 250-356-8241 https://news.gov.bc.ca/34165 Related Articles Single-lane-alternating traffic expected on Fulford-Ganges Road August 7, 2026 3:15 PM New chain-up areas coming to Highway 37, Highway 37A July 30, 2026 1:40 PM Traffic-pattern changes coming for Highway 1 at Mount Lehman Road August 14, 2026 3:35 PM Connect with the Ministry Photos View the Ministry's latest photos on Flickr.
