Our goal is to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). To support this work we wrote the Simplified Guide to WCAG. Accessibility is an ongoing process. While we work to meet WCAG Level AA across gov.bc.ca, we know some areas may not yet be fully accessible. We review updates to the WCAG standard regularly and work to include new requirements as they’re introduced. We want as many people as possible to be able to use our site. This means you should be able to: Change colours, contrast levels and fonts without losing information Increase content up to 200% without cutting anything off or breaking the layout Use the site on different screen sizes, such as mobile devices. Most content fits on the screen without users needing to scroll sideways, but some items, like large tables or maps, may still need it Navigate most of the website using only a keyboard Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software Access most of the website using a screen reader We’re also working to write content in plain language so it’s clear and easy to understand.
