Kyoto University has conducted world-leading research in fields such as photonic crystal lasers, quantum optical science, and power semiconductors, and has produced researchers who have left their mark on the history of light and semiconductor research, including Doctoral Degree Isamu Akasaki, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on blue LEDs. Nobel Prize 2025 On December 10th, the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony was held in Stockholm, Sweden, where Executive Vice-President Kitagawa Susumu received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Professor Emeritus Sakaguchi Shimon received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. During Nobel Week, which began on the 6th, the two received many congratulations as they visited the Nobel Museum and participated in related events such as commemorative lectures.
