As the data protection supervisory authority, he protects the right of every person to privacy by ensuring that federal bodies and private companies do not process personal data unlawfully.As Information Commissioner, the FDPIC is the arbitration board for access to official documents. Upon request, he mediates between private individuals and federal authorities when an authority denies access to documents in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. If no agreement can be reached, he issues recommendations.
