Facing a new reality The world has changed dramatically in the last few years. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of our systems, forcing us to rethink how we function as a society. Global conflicts and rampant disinformation have undermined peace and democracy. Record heat and extreme weather events have reminded us of the immediacy and human toll of the climate crisis. And the rise of powerful artificial intelligence tools has changed how we interact with the world. To meet these challenges, the world needs deep expertise and large-scale collaboration across disciplines.
