Learn more RESEARCH Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace (AbTeC) is an Indigenous determined research-creation network whose goal is to ensure Indigenous presence in the web pages, online environments, video games, and virtual worlds that comprise cyberspace. Co-founded and co-directed by Jason Edward Lewis and Skawennati, our multi-faceted effort includes the Initiative for Indigenous Futures (IIF), Skins workshops, Activating AbTeC Island, and AbTeC Gallery. Abundant Intelligences The Abundant Intelligences research program re-imagines Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Indigenous Knowledge (IK) systems. AbInt’s approach is grounded in Indigenous epistemologies and rooted in conceptual frameworks for developing technologies that support the flourishing of future generations, and are optimized for abundance. Inuit Futures Inuit Futures in Arts Leadership: The Pilimmaksarniq / Pijariuqsarniq Project supports Inuit and Inuvialuit to become leaders within their communities in all areas of the arts, by providing innovative, hands-on mentoring and training opportunities across the north and south. Promoting and Protecting Indigenous Arts Promoting and Protecting the Arts and Cultural Expressions of Indigenous Peoples is an ongoing project led by Dr. Heather Igloliorte. It was undertaken by the Indigenous Futures Research Centre between 2023-2025 and is now situated at the University of Victoria. Its goal is to bring together the knowledges and experiences of Indigenous artists, scholars, and community members on issues regarding the protection and promotion of Indigenous art, practices, and cultural expressions. LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT The Indigenous Futures Research Centre at Concordia University is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation are recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. TiotiàKe/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples.
