CHECK OUT RECENTLY-PUBLISHED RESEARCH ARTICLES BY TC3 MEMBERS AND TRAINEES PUBLICATIONS The Toronto Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research Consortium brings together researchers and trainees who are actively engaged in research on cannabis and cannabinoids at the University of Toronto and Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network TC3 is a tri-campus, multi-institution, interdisciplinary Institutional Strategic Initiative at the University of Toronto ​ Situated at the heart of Canada’s medical research and innovation ecosystem, TC3 has the unique depth and breadth of expertise and the capacity to address almost every crucial and pressing research question related to cannabis and cannabinoids and to translate research findings into real world solutions for society TC3 is pioneering transformative cannabis and cannabinoid research and training approaches at the convergence of disciplines Anchor 1 MEET OUR TEAM The TC3 is led by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from 3 University of Toronto campuses, 6 faculties, 11 departments and 3 hospital and research institutes JOIN THE TC3 Faculty Members Trainees MEMBER SPOTLIGHT My work focuses on pharmacogenomics and pharmacokinetics of substance use disorders. In the cannabis space, for example, this has involved collaborations with scientists testing different cannabis formulations, using LC/MS to examine the plasma/urinary concentrations of THC, CBD and their metabolites, as well as the products (e.g. vapes) themselves. ​ We have also interrogated genetic variants in the endocannabinoid system, for example the influence of FAAH genotypes in different CURB imaging studies and on risk for cannabis use disorder (CUD). Dr. Rachel Tyndale University of Toronto and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health TRAINEE SPOTLIGHT Yalin studies neuroinflammatory mechanisms mediated by glial cells in non-human primate, rat, and cell culture models to understand how adolescent cannabis exposure might lead to adverse psychiatric outcomes and identify potential therapeutic targets. Yalin Sun Lab of Dr. Susan R. George University of Toronto ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Alexandra Santos is currently working at BlueRock Therapeutics as a Senior Research Associate on the Analytical and Quality Control team. The company focuses on developing stem cell therapy products, and the primary product she supports is a treatment for Parkinson’s Disease, which is presently in clinical trials. ​ In her role, she develops various assays and characterizes the drug product to ensure it meets the stringent quality standards required for continued advancement in the clinical pipeline.
