She is Director, Earth System Division, National Institute for Environmental Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Science from Geophysical Institute, Tohoku University in 1993. Her areas of expertise are earth and planetary sciences and environmental sciences with a particular focus on terrestrial ecosystem, carbon cycle, and canopy micrometeorology. Vice-President for Liaison with Government and Society ISO Hiroyasu Director, Institute for Global Health Policy Research, Bureau of International Health Cooperation, National Center for Global Health and Medicine ISO Hiroyasu has been serving as the Vice-President in charge of Contact with Government and Society at the Science Council of Japan since October 2023. He is Director, Institute for Global Health Policy Research, Bureau of International Health Cooperation, National Center for Global Health and Medicine and an Emeritus Professor of Osaka University from 2022. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Science from the University of Tsukuba in 1986 and Master's degree in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 1988. His areas of expertise are the epidemiology and prevention of lifestyle-related disease including hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, stroke and ischemic heart disease as well as dementia. Vice-President for International Affairs HIBIYA Junko Professor Emerita, International Christian University HIBIYA Junko has been serving as the Vice-President in charge of International Activities at the Science Council of Japan since October 2023. She is Professor Emerita at International Christian University. She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988. She served as President of the International Christian University from 2012 to 2020. Her areas of expertise are linguistics, sociolinguistics, Japanese language studies, and Japanese language education.
