Starrgirl takes you on the journey on her way to the starrs. Starrgirl is for the souls that recognize themselves in it. It’s inspired by both ache and beauty. To be an African woman living in America, feels like I’m living between worlds, carrying the weight of where you come from and the hope of where you’re going. You are often seen through multiple lenses, the gaze of your own community, which might expect you to preserve culture, and the gaze of the society you now live in, which may misunderstand or exoticize you. To be an African woman living in America is to constantly negotiate visibility to decide when to blend in, when to stand out, and when to simply be. It’s a balancing act of learning to translate yourself, your accents, your mannerisms. You become both a keeper of heritage and a creator of new traditions. In the search of freedom, equality and education, self expression and acceptance that is not possible back home! I am met with the tension of cultural expectations, generational guilt and pressure to be the success to justify your family’s sacrifices, to be the best because nobody has two heads. You learn to walk that tightrope between honoring where you come from and shaping who you want to become. You redefine what life means to you and what kind of life you want to lead beyond inherited expectations! Claiming your power by telling your own story by transforming perplexity into identity, deprivation into drive, sacrifice into purpose. Understanding you might never fully belong anywhere but accepting you also belong everywhere. Starrgirl is a bridge between past and present, tradition and transformation, self and society, accepting complexity and turning it into strength. To exist in multitudes, to unfold endlessly, to shine in countless numbers like STARS in the galaxy. I want listeners to experience art not just hits. 763 61 168 Share Discussion about this post CommentsRestacks Not Gonna Lie 💋🌸 2d Mobstarrs can't wait for the Freaky Fridayyyy 💜💜 Reply Share 𝕻𝖊𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖗𝖗☆ 2d ayra you've done so well, I'm so glad we've been hear to see you grow both in your mannerisms and your music, starrrgirl already seems like a breath of fresh air, something we need in this constant choking world, I really can't wait to listen, congratulations! ❤️ Reply Share 59 more comments...
